Travel Tips

Ways to Make your Travel Experience Stress Free

Transportation

There are a lot of great resources for flights. To find cheap flights I use skyscanner (I usually still book on the airlines website) to see which days and times are cheapest to fly. Rome2rio is a website that tells you the cheapest and fastest way to get to each place. Omio is a great resource for booking trains as well. A good rule of thumb I keep is trying to find the cheapest flight unless it is too much of an inconvenience. For example if a flight leaving at 10am is $30 more than a flight leaving at 3am I will spend the money for the 10am flight. Time is valuable especially when you're travelling!

Accomodation

Some great websites to find accommodations are hostelworld and airbnb. For hotels google maps will actually tell you the price of every hotel in a specific neighborhood in a city. This feature on google maps is key because one of the most important parts of your accommodation is the location. Similarly to transportation I am willing to spend a few extra dollars to stay in a better area to save time and money on transportation (if you have to take a $40 taxi from a cheaper hotel instead of walking from a slightly more expensive hotel, is it really cheaper?).

Planning the Perfect Itenerary

I plan a lot of my trips on my notes app, but for flights and hotels I use Tripit to keep track of all my trips in one place. For actual things to do I want to give a shoutout to my favorite travel bloggers who have given me some of the best experiences based on their recommendations. Nomadic Matt and The Blond Abroad have great day by day itineraries and Kara and Nate's videos in specific cities are great inspiration on things to do as well. Just remember never over schedule a day where you are feeling too exhausted, and a great joy of travel is living in the moment so it is okay to stray from the original schedule or plan.
